I am vociferously passionate about good books. And I hate adverbs.
Ha! But this was really quite good, with a twist (I do not read blurbs, warnings, or tags, thankfully, so it was a surprise), in what is all in all a well-rounded novella. It has a great first-page hook, which then develops into something completely different around the half-way mark, to go on to the resolution, tying everything up in a beautiful little bow. I was quite impressed.
I especially liked the best friend character, Leslie, thank you for her. She is a kick-ass-stand-up-for-her-buddy kind of person—my favorite girl completely.
The story could have had one more run through the editing process, at times the language felt a little off and foreign, but not enough to put your finger on. This is a new writer for me, and I’m curious to see what else might be coming from this corner.

I was given an ARC of this book for free from the publisher, Dreamspinner Press.
A positive review was neither expected nor promised in return.
