After an absolutely delightful foreword, I stumbled into this story, head first. I can safely say that it has been a long, long time since I’ve fallen so fast and so hard for a character, but Carter is just so sweet it’s insane. Then you go on and add Ethan to the mix, and all I can do is shake my head at all the love I’m feeling.

Acceptance.

The story took me by the hand and led me down a lane of understanding of both brain injury and Tourette’s. Of how love is really fundamental.

It is so difficult to understand the day-to-day life of someone with different abilities from me. This story showed me what it can look like. And isn’t that all we can ask from a good story, to take us by the hand and lead us down a lane we cannot walk on our own?

It gave me insight into what it can be like, both to be injured, but also into how one navigates the rough seas around a loved one who has been injured, or around one who is differently abled. The supporting characters, in the form of Liz, Nolan, and Elliot were absolutely tops.

I loved this book. It will stay with me for a long, long time. It was recommended to me by a young and very good friend—thank you T. You give the best advice.
